Marta Cicero moved to Washington state from the New York City area in 2004. When she decided to start a family, she chose Issaquah Highlands because she felt it would be a great neighborhood to raise a family. She now has three children and lives near Village Green.

Marta Cicero Design logoMarta launched her interior design company, Marta Cicero Design, in January 2020 because she wanted to help people create spaces they love. One of the most rewarding parts of running her own business is the ability to meet new neighbors and see the happiness her services bring to them. Marta focuses on designing home spaces that inspire joy, which is even more important now given the extra time most people are spending inside their homes.

Marta’s services include space planning, remodeling, and renovations, as well as furniture, decorative accessory, art, and lighting selections. One of her favorite projects – and most memorable – was transforming a little girl’s “Frozen”-themed bedroom into a more teen-appropriate boho-chic space that can now be enjoyed for years to come. According to Marta, the joy on her client’s daughter’s face isn’t something she will soon forget.

Marta felt Issaquah Highlands was a good place to start her business because a lot of homes in the community are hitting the 15-20-year-old mark which is a great time for homes to be renovated or refreshed. Outside of a major remodel, a few ideas that can make a big difference are repainting, updating light fixtures, or adding new decorative accessories. These are all great ways to start the interior refresh process.

Marta’s biggest piece of advice for neighbors considering starting their own business: “Just do it. There is never going to be a perfect time, so just go for it.”
