Resident Business Profile: Jenn Wong, Maison Arbor

By April 15, 2021February 17th, 2022business, General

Maison ArborJenn Wong launched her Issaquah Highlands home-based small business, Maison Arbor, in October 2020. Maison Arbor offers high-quality, custom, handcrafted wood creations. The business is a combination of Jenn’s various passions: home decor and design, woodworking, and mixed media, with the goal of inspiring feelings of comfort and relaxation in the modern home.

Jenn’s favorite part of her business, aside from finding a deep sense of fulfillment and personal happiness, is collaborating with her customers to bring their ideas to life. It allows her to meet neighbors she may not have connected with otherwise; and the ability to build relationships by learning more about her customers’ stories and values. This relationship brings life and significance to each piece. One example is a set Jenn promoted on Maison Arbor’s social media pages. She created a unique closing gift set for a local real estate agent that included engraved and personalized items, including wooden coasters and a wooden cutting board etched with the client’s last name, in a beautiful wooden box.

“My favorite part of the process is to vicariously live through others’ dreams to create something meaningful and precious to them,” Jenn wrote on Instagram.

Jenn moved to Washington with her husband in 2016. It had been a life-long dream for them. Shortly after, they found their dream home in the Central Park neighborhood of Issaquah Highlands. Now a mother of two children, Jenn feels like she and her husband chose the perfect neighborhood to raise their family.

“[We enjoy] all of the large green spaces and woody trails right outside our door, yet we also have a toy store, sushi, and burger joints right down the street. We truly have the best of both worlds,” Jenn said.

Jenn feels Issaquah Highlands is a great place for her business because of the love and kind support she receives from our community. Since launching her business, she’s “had the honor of connecting with so many amazing and inspiring people.”

“[I want to use this opportunity to] thank these people who are my neighbors, my local businesses, and my friends,” Jenn said.

Jenn’s biggest piece of advice for neighbors considering starting their own business: “Focus on creating what you love and dream of; don’t try to find what sells, and the rest will follow.”
