ONLINE! Embracing Adversity: Employing Resilience and a Growth Mindset in Complex Times

June 11, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please register in advance at https://bit.ly/2LhbxJm to receive the Zoom link.

Our youth are often engaged and invested in structures that run counter to the development of resilience and a growth mindset. Many young people are discovering they lack the flexibility and malleability they need to manage adversity.

Resilience is the ability to achieve in the face of adversity: to bend, rather than break.  In this workshop, award winning speaker and youth advocate, Jerry Blackburn, will discuss how young people can become more resilient and the obstacles that get in their way.  We’ll explore how our differences, struggles and investments can make us more gracious and productive participants in these complex times.

This FREE workshop is designed for students, parents, educators and the community at large.

For security purposes, please register in advance at https://bit.ly/2LhbxJm to receive the Zoom link.

Jerry Blackburn, M.Ed., SUDP, currently serves as the Executive Director of the Influence the Choice Community Coalition in Issaquah and is an adjunct faculty member in the Substance Use Disorder Counseling Education Program at Bellevue College.  In addition to his work, Jerry currently serves a board member for The Garage, the Issaquah Teen Cafe. In 2005 he was honored by the Washington State Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse with the Richard Rivera Passionate Youth Professional Award and in 2017 the Issaquah Schools Foundation presented him with the Golden Apple Award in appreciation for his dedication to the health of young people.
