Art Project Community Service Event

July 5, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Parkadilly Art Project 2019

For Students age 12 and older.

Looking for something FUN to do on Friday July 5 and get a start on school-required community service hours?

The last couple of years the HY has helped artist Gabi Phillips prepare the community art project for the annual Parkadilly Kids’ Concert, Fair & Fun at Lake Sammamish State Park. We helped create a tree made from recycled plastic bottles and a salmon sculpture with scales made from the painted lids of tin cans (currently on display in front of the Issaquah Welcome Center/Chamber of Commerce office on Gilman Blvd between Gilman Village and Front Street).

This year Gabi is back at Blakely Hall on FRIDAY, JULY 5 from 1pm-2:30pm with a PEACOCK project made from recycled bottle caps. See the landscape image in the event cover photo made from bottle caps so you get the idea.

Since the picture will be created by using bottle caps and also self-made flowers (similar to first year’s project), there will be plenty of activities to go around depending on the stage of the project:
– sorting bottle caps
– painting the base picture on the board
– creating the pattern with the caps on the board and attaching them (probably screws or nails)
– cutting out plastic flowers and painting them
– assembling the flowers

Lots of tasks for varying interests.
