2020 Home Organization Calendar

Starting in the January 2020 issue of Connections, I launched the 2020 Home Organization Calendar. Each month, we organized different areas of our homes, taking small steps towards the goal of living a more organized life. I hope you learned some tips and tricks to help you on your way to a more organized home (and you felt a little weight lifted with each month).

This month, I pulled my favorite tips over the past year to help you live a more organized life. Don’t miss my tips on organizing for the holidays in December’s issue of Connections.

January

Declutter

One in, one out! Be sure to make those swaps before new gifts start pouring in after the holidays.

February

Bathroom

Get started by purging flat surfaces, bathroom drawers, and cabinets.

March

Office & Documents

Collect papers from around the house, choose a sorting station, and schedule sessions to make the process manageable.

April

Electronics

Label new cords as soon as you receive them and recycle the old ones.

May

Clothing

Sort all your clothing, make quick decisions, and don’t second-guess yourself.

June

Garage

Plan ahead and use matching storage bins with labels.

July

Kids Space

Make a place for art and rotate available toys to reduce clutter.

August

Entryway

Use hooks for jackets and keys, and find a bench with shoe storage.

September

Linens

Store sheet sets inside one of the pillowcases.

October

Guest Room

Choose multipurpose furniture and declutter!

November

Pantry & Kitchen

Create a grab-and-go snack station with open front bins.

December

Holiday Preparations

Throw out anything broken and donate things you have outgrown.
