ISSAQUAH HIGHLANDS – Clocks may “fall back” giving homebuyers an extra hour this weekend, but the minutes are ticking down on John F. Buchan’s final offering of first phase of homes at Hudson Heights – a neighborhood of view and luxury homes atop Issaquah Highlands.

Hudson Heights is part of this multi-award-winning urban village, connecting wilderness-edge neighborhoods to open space that time has nurtured and protected.

This weekend, as John F. Buchan “treats” its pre-Halloween home-buying guests to tours of Hudson Heights' homes, visitors also are welcome to explore the variety of new amenities and conveniences opening near the heart of the village.

“Issaquah Highlands has been attracting homebuyers for a few years, but now the real goodies are starting to show up – and it’s just the beginning,” says Hudson Heights sales representative Shelly Baehler. “People who have been living here since the beginning tell us how fun it is to meet their neighbors at the cozy coffee shop or the trendy wine bar – and the opening of the new Grand Ridge Elementary this fall was so exciting.”

Hudson Heights puts homebuyers in this mix with distinctive three- to five-bedroom homes, ranging from 3,429 to 4,215 square feet. Two of the homes open this weekend are three-story choices; another home offers two levels of living.

A soaring 20-foot bamboo-finish ceiling and rustic-hewn beams crown the great room of the Ambrose design on homesite 19 – a four-bedroom, 4.5-bath offering with media room, recreation room and den.

“Buyers are just going crazy for this home because it blends traditional with rustic,” says Baehler. “The master suite is on the main floor and it even has its own wrap-around deck with a magnificent view of the Bellevue and Seattle skylines, Olympic Mountains and the valley.”

The Seville on homesite 26 at Hudson Heights, meanwhile, is tempting buyers with four bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a den in a setting where “someone is going to discover one of the very best views.”

“I like to call this kitchen a 'chef’s fantasy'," says Baehler. “I’m not sure there is anyone who can walk into this kitchen and not be amazed. The 48-inch professional-grade Thermador cooktop has six burners with a griddle, and there is a double-oven, and a third oven on another wall. There are two under-mounted sinks – one on the island – and both under-cabinet and pendant lighting.”

"Because it’s a bit higher on the hill," says Baehler, “you can clearly see the Space Needle, plus there is more lake in your view.”

Rockery and lush landscaping frame and enhance the privacy of the rear yard at homesite 27 – a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath choice with den.

“One of the things homebuyers will find here is that while John F. Buchan is a traditional homebuilder, their teams have an eye for ingenious finishes. The large kitchen, for example, offers two appliance 'garage' sets so counters look spacious and tidy. The kitchen cabinets in this home are Shaker-style, and all the wainscoting and trim here is Craftsman-style.”

Outside, John F. Buchan maintains the builder’s commitment to complete landscaping, but achieves this in a low-maintenance style for buyers.

“In Issaquah Highlands, people are making a lifestyle choice – and they don’t want to spend all their free time doing yard work,” says Baehler. “What they find at Hudson Heights is a lot of wonderful parks, schools and stores. They have more time to truly get to know their neighbors. They want to spend more time enjoying the outdoors – and not all their time working outdoors.”

Beyond each yard, the labyrinth of Issaquah Highland’s existing and planned trails and parks connects this urban village, Hudson Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods with 1,400 acres of open space that links to wilderness-edge trails surrounding the Squak, Tiger and Cougar mountains.

Respect for these surroundings is one of many reasons Issaquah Highlands has earned accolades from a variety of industry and professional experts. Recently, it was named one of three Merit Award winners and finalist for “Master Planned Community of the Year,” and “Sustainable Community of the Year” at the Gold Nugget honors, awarded by BUILDER magazine.

“Hudson Heights has a premiere location here, the way it’s positioned atop the drive,” says Baehler. “As you’re driving through The Highlands, you ascend to the top, you rise above Issaquah and you’re removed from the hustle-bustle of the rest of the world to a place that’s all your own.”
