The Board of Education, a local band that plays upbeat music for kids and adults, kept the residents of Dahlia Park and Roanoke Woods movin’ and groovin’ while we enjoyed great food from the pot-luck buffet. The weather was HOT so there was no shortage of water toys for the kids (and the adult-kids too!) Slip ’n’ slides, water balloons, squirt guns and kiddie pools filled the park, while the band played great rock ’n’ roll songs with silly lyrics for the kids.

The 3rd annual block party for 24th Avenue brought out about 100 neighbors. There were many children—we blocked off the street and allowed the kids to scoot, cycle, rocket blast, chalk, chase, and jump rope on the street. It was a potluck, and the many different dishes on the table reflected the wonderful mix of people and cultures in our neighborhood!
