Raised Heel Trusses and Super Insulated Ceiling - Above Code:

Hot air rises. The sun heats from above. Both are reasons why extra efforts to insulate ceiling areas pay big dividends. Ceiling insulation is also quite economical. In this home, ceilings are insulated to code levels (R-38) or above, using environmentally-friendly cellulose, and formaldehyde-free fibergalss batts, depending on location and access requirements. Trusses are raised at the point where the roof meets the wall, which allows full depth insulation to the outer edge of the exterior walls.
