U. Raised Heel Trusses and Super Insulated Ceiling – R-49

Hot air rises. The sun heats from above. Both are reasons why extra efforts to insulate ceiling areas pay big dividends. Ceiling insulation is also quite economical. In this home, ceilings were insulated to R-49 with environmentally-friendly cellulose made from recycled newspaper fiber. Trusses are raised at the point where the roof meets the wall, which allows full depth insulation to the outer edge of the exterior walls.
