Issaquah Highlands pediatric dentist using lasers instead of drills and needles

Issaquah, Wash. (Feb. 17, 2010) – Port Blakely Communities, a leader in sustainable development, today announced that Highlands Kids Dentistry has opened in Issaquah Highlands. The pediatric dentistry practice, founded by Dr. Shadi Araghi, is one of the first on Seattle’s Eastside to use lasers instead of drills and needles for most procedures. Located in the heart of Issaquah Highlands at the Starpoint Shops, Highlands Kids Dentistry uses digital x-rays to minimize exposure and an intra-oral minicam during visits. These new technologies provide safer and more precise dental care to minimize the risk of infection and reduce the need for anesthesia.

“Laser technology eliminates the need for noisy drills and painful needles; making a dentist’s visit a positive experience for the entire family and encouraging healthy habits for a lifetime,” said Dr. Araghi. “Our focus at Highlands Kids Dentistry is on prevention and creating a relaxed environment for kids where they no longer fear a trip to the dentist.” A pediatric dentist, Dr. Araghi specializes in treating children from birth to age 18. She is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where she also completed her pediatric residency. During her residency, Dr. Araghi focused on the use of lasers, pediatric sedation, orthodontics, and on treating patients with special needs. She also completed a pediatric rotation at the New England Medical Center. Highlands Kids Dentistry will also offer dentistry for adults with Dr. Ray Besharati. Beginning March 2010, the adult practice will offer laser treatments, digital x-rays, whitening and microscopic dentistry.
